Planning Your Visit

We have prepared this trip planning section to help make your visit as successful as possible. To maximize your enjoyment, you may consider the typical weather & dress for the season, the various forms of transportation, and the wide variety of wonderful activities. Here are several itineraries to consider for your trip to San Juan Island.

One Night on San Juan Island is too short. You will need more time to drive around & experience the island.

Two Nights will give you a full day to explore our two National Historic Parks, watch for the orca whales, enjoy our nationally recognized museums & distinctive art galleries, & savor the sunset with wine on the west side.

Three Nights will allow you time to relax. Go kayaking, sailing or fishing. Stroll through beautiful Friday Harbor Marina or Westcott Bay Sculpture Park at Roche Harbor. You might also consider a day trip on the Interisland Washington State Ferry to enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the San Juan Islands. Maybe take a picnic to eat on the ferry or hop off at Orcas Island for lunch at the Orcas Hotel Cafe just across the street from the dock.

Four Nights gives you plenty of time to explore unique places like San Juan Vineyard & Winery, Pelindaba Lavender Farm & Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm. Hike, golf, bike, picnic on the beach. Possibilities are endless. And we haven't even mentioned the wide variety of fine restaurants to try!
